Ladakh's first Zanskar Winter Sports & Youth Festival kick-started on the 18th of January.
Senior Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) officials participated in the opening ceremony. The festival, which will conclude on the 30th of January started with the famous Chadar trek.
The trek, considered to be an extremely tough one, includes walking on a sheet of ice on the frozen river of Zanskar.
BharatiyaJanata Party (BJP) MP JamyangTseringNamgyal was also present at the event.Numerous other activities like a hockey match, ice skating, ice climbing and yoga have been planned.
