FM Sitharaman says govt committed to farm welfare; Oppositions protest

Amid farmer protests over the new farm laws, finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman listed the govt's sops for farmers. She announced an increase in agriculture credit target to ₹16.5 lakh crore in her Union Budget 2021 speech.

The FM said that the Modi govt is committed to the welfare of farmers even as opposition parties protested in the House. The FM said the MSP regime has undergone a change to assure price that is at least 1.5 times the cost of production across all commodities adding added that MSP procurement will continue at a steady pace.
