Sitharaman on fuel price: not just Centre but states charge duties as well

The push to include petrol and petroleum products under the GST just got stronger.  Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Friday said that the rising fuel prices is putting a burden and creating a hole in consumers' pockets. She said it is not just the Centre which has duties on petroleum price but the states charge as well and added that 41% of revenue earned goes to states as well. She further said that it is a matter that both states and Centre should discuss as . Meanwhile, Crude prices soared to the highest level since January as the 23 nation coalition of oil producers OPEC decided to hold back on increasing supplies.
