In the wake of the exits and crises plaguing the Congress party, the G-23 leaders have questioned the leadership and raised a set of uncomfortable questions

Addressing a press conference, Kapil Sibal spoke on behalf of the group of 23 leaders (G-23), who wrote a strongly worded letter to party president Sonia Gandhi seeking sweeping changes.

Sibal questioned the delay in the election of party president and said the party is in a situation where it should not be.

He further added the G-23 leaders were not among those who would leave the Congress to join other parties and urged those who left the party recently to come back to the fold.

Another G-23 leader, Ghulam Nabi Azad, has written to Sonia Gandhi asking for a Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting on the recent exits from the party.

The comments come in the middle of the Congress's crisis in Punjab, where state chief Navjot Sidhu has quit just days after Amarinder Singh resigned as CM.

In recent weeks, the party has also lost leaders like Sushmita Dev and Luizinho Faleiro.
