Goa govt challenges Tejpal's acquittal in sexual assault case in Bombay HC

The Goa government on Tuesday challenged the acquittal of Tehelka magazine founder editor Tarun Tejpal in the sexual assault case in the Bombay High Court.

On May 21, a sessions court in Goa had acquitted Tejpal of the charge of sexually assaulting a former woman colleague inside the elevator of a luxury hotel in the state in 2013.

Goa Advocate General Devidas Pangam said the HC is yet to assign the date for hearing the appeal.

Besides other charges, Tejpal had faced the trial for wrongful restraint, assault with intent to outrage modesty, sexual harassment, rape by a person in a position of control.
