Afghan filmmaker and photographer Roya Heydari has fled war torn Afghanistan and reached France fearing she would not be allowed to work under the Taliban regime.

Heydari shared a photograph from the Kabul airport and wrote that she left her whole life, her home in order to continue to have a voice.

She said she is running from her motherland and once again she is going to have to start from zero.

The photojournalist also mentioned that she carried solely her cameras and a 'dead soul' as she fled.

She concluded her post with a heavy heart and wrote 'goodbye motherland, until we meet again'.

Heydari's heartbreaking post captures the desperation and dilemma that thousands of women in the Taliban-controlled country face today.

According to reports, Heydari managed to escape Kabul and reached France five days ago.
