A Greek Orthodox priest on Saturday was critically wounded after being shot in the French city of Lyon.
Nikolaos Kakavelaki, a 52-year-old Greek citizen, was closing his Lyon church mid-afternoon when he was shot twice in the chest at point blank range, reported AFP news agency.
French police interrogated one suspect and searched for others on Sunday.
The priest is now in a local hospital and remains in critical condition. with life threatening injuries. However, the reason for the attack is unclear.
The attack comes in after France stays on high alert after the killing of three people at a Nice church on Thursday, amid the tensions stirred globally over cartoons of the Muslim Prophet Muhammad published in a French newspaper.
