Group Captain Varun Singh's mortal remains brought home to Bhopal

The mortal remains of Group Captain Varun Singh who succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday after being critically injured in last week's chopper crash in Tamil Nadu were brought home to Bhopal. 

Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan paid his last respects to the deceased Air Force officer and announced an ex-gratia compensation of ₹1 crore and a job to his family. 

Earlier in the day, the Indian Air Force paid tribute to him at the Yelahanka Air Base in Bengaluru before his mortal remains were flown to Bhopal.

Group Captain Varun Singh was the lone survivor of the helicopter crash last week in which Chief of Defence Staff Bipin Rawat, his wife and 11 others were killed.
