Nearly half of the India's total Covid-19 deaths have been recorded from 25 districts in eight states, the government said on Tuesday. 15 of these districts are in Maharashtra alone. Other states are Karnataka, West Bengal, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Punjab, UP and Andhra Pradesh. The Union government is focusing on these districts and has been in touch with district officials so that the situation can be controlled," health secretary Rajiv Bhushan said. In Maharashtra, Mumbai and Pune are worst hit with over 7,000 deaths each.
