Scarlett Johansson has been in the public eye right from the age of 10 when she made her Hollywood debut in 1994 film 'North'.

Scarlett, who was the highest-paid actress in 2018 and 2019, has given us many memorable roles since then, each unique and brilliant in their own right.

But perhaps she is best known for the character of Natasha Romanoff, the badass superhero from Marvel's Avengers franchise, which became so insanely popular that Marvel had to give her a standalone film 'Black Widow'.

On the Black Widow star Scarlett Johansson's 37th birthday, here are some of her best, most memorable performances:

1)  Her | 2013

2013 film 'Her' is a sci-fi movie at its core mixed with romantic drama. 'Her' gave fans an in-depth look at the rise of artificial intelligence, its role and increasing involvement in human lives.

The story focuses on Theodore Twombly played by Joaquin Phoenix, a lonely, introverted, and depressed man who develops a relationship with Samantha, an A.I. virtual assistant humanized through a female voice, played by Scarlett Johanssen.

Although Scarlett is not physically present in the movie, the dexterity of her voice in the film is simply magnificent.

She won the Best Actress Award at the Rome Film Festival for her voice-only turn in this quirky 21st-century romance.

2) Lucy | 2014

'Lucy' is a French sci-fi action film about a carefree student who is first turned into a drug mule, then in turn becomes a superhuman with telekinetic and telepathic abilities when a large quantity of drugs is leaked into her system.

The film is something of a zany cross between a superhero movie and a Taiwanese gangster movie, but Johansson holds it together with a muscular action performance.

Scarlett Johansson's portrayal of the extremely vulnerable yet superpowered woman received a lot of appreciation from critics. It won her a National Society of Film Critics' Awards for Best Actress.

3) Jojo Rabbit | 2019

'Jojo Rabit' is set in Nazi Germany in the later stages of the World War II. Scarlett Johansson plays little kid Jojo’s mother, who is hiding a Jewish girl in their attic. She secretly works against the Nazis, as part of a hidden community that wants Hitler’s reign to end.

Scarlett Johansson is in a class of her own here, delivering a soulful comic turn that keeps revealing new layers. The actress earned a Best Supporting Oscar nomination for her mesmerizing performance in the film.

4) Marriage Story | 2019

'Marriage Story' features Scarlett Johansson and Adam driver and was one of the strongest contenders in the 2019 Oscar race.

The film is about a couple going through a divorce. It is haunting, heart-breaking and unforgettable.

Scarlett's brilliant portrayal of Nicole Barber, an ambitious actress who is heartbroken due to the separation but is also reinventing herself with her new-found freedom, makes the film an absolute wonder to watch.

The performance earned Scarlett Johansson a Best Actress Academy Award nomination.

 5) Black Widow | 2021

Scarlett Johannson returns as the irrepressible Natasha Romanoff, who is determined to deal with her history as a spy, and mend the broken relationships left in her wake, long before she became an Avenger.

'Black Widow' has always been seen as the coolest head in a fight. Nothing fazed her, and certainly nothing stopped her.

The movie is packed with everything that you'd expect from a Marvel movie, but what's different about this one is the high emotional quotient making it both heart-breaking, and heart-warming at the same time.

Scarlett Johansson was honoured with the Generation Award for the film.
