Haryana has banned the sale and use of firecrackers in 14 districts near Delhi days before the big festival of Diwali.

As per a NDTV report, even online shopping sites are not allowed to sell and deliver firecrackers to these areas.

While issuing the order, the state government noted that bursting crackers can adversely affect the respiratory health of vulnerable groups, besides aggravating health condition of Covid-19 positive people in home isolation.

The 14 districts where sale and bursting of crackers is banned include Faridabad, Gurugram, Jhajjar, Karnal, Panipat and Sonipat among others.

However, green crackers are permitted for marriages and other occasions.

Notably, the Haryana govt took similar measures before Diwali last year as well.
