It's 2021, and the times, they are a-changin'. 

One thing that hasn't changed: Instagram's status as the Internet's most influential app. 

Whether they have the most compelling feeds or just the most loyal fandoms, the celebrities with the biggest Instagram followers, say a lot about the current state of pop culture. 

Also, celebrities who have huge social media followers, have the ability to reach to millions of people and impact positive change.  

Here are the top 5 most followed Hollywood celebs who are using their social media feeds to do good. 


1) Kylie Jenner | 277 mn followers + 

Kylie Kenner is arguably the biggest star on Instagram. She is a boss lady who created one of the most successful beauty empires to date. Jenner’s net worth is now estimated at $700 million, thanks to Kylie Cosmetics, Kylie Baby, Kylie Swim, and Kylie Skin. Her account itself focuses on her work and personal life, with lots of baby photos of her firstborn Stormi, and photos with her boyfriend, Travis Scott. 

Kylie Jenner may flaunt her wealth all over social media by showing off her lavish cars, outrageous birthday parties, and designer bags, but this beauty mogul does a lot for the world that many people tend to overlook.  

Kylie Jenner is an ambassador for Smile Train, a charity that helps children with cleft palates and lips, which uses donation money to get them the surgeries they need.  

Kylie Jenner pledged her support to fight racism by donating to several causes, including Black Lives Matter, NAACP, Campaign Zero, and the Youth Justice Coalition.

2) Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson. - 275 mn followers + 


Our one and only male celebrity in the top 5 is Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson. Star of the WWE and now well-known actor, he takes the 2nd spot. Not many surprises on his account – there are lots of posts from his film sets, pictures of him in the gym, and posts about his family. 
Dwayne Johnson is a spokesman of the National AfterSchool Association to help children through his own Dwayne Johnson Rock Foundation.  Apart from this, Johnson also takes time to encourage children to continue their schooling beyond the high school years through special courses. 

Aside from being heavily involved in these two organizations, Johnson also supports the Make-A-Wish Foundation and helps to organize galas for the Rush Philanthropic Arts Foundation. The foundation provides funding for non-profit organizations which helps people's exposure and access to the arts.  

The Fast and Furious actor has also supported charities that work towards an end to Parkinson’s Disease and AIDS. Some of the causes supported by Johnson are AIDS & HIV, At-Risk/Disadvantaged Youths, Cancer, Children, Creative Arts, Disaster Relief, Education, Grief Support, Health, Human Rights, Parkinson's Disease, and Veteran/Service Member Support.

Global superstar Ariana Grande is one of the most popular singers on the planet.  Her feed is full of photos of her performing, meeting other celebrities, and general depictions of living the pop high life.  Ariana started her philanthropic journey very early on in life. At age ten, Grande co-founded the South Florida youth singing group Kids Who Care, which performed at charitable fund-raising events and raised over $500,000 in 2007 alone. 

In 2009, as a member of the charitable organization Broadway in South Africa, Grande and her brother Frankie performed and taught music and dance to children in Gugulethu, South Africa.  She was featured with Bridgit Mendler and Kat Graham in Seventeen magazine in a 2013 public campaign to end online bullying called "Delete Digital Drama". After watching the film Blackfish that year, she urged fans to stop supporting SeaWorld. 

In 2016, she launched a line of lip shades called "Ariana Grande's MAC Viva Glam" with MAC Cosmetics, the profits of which benefited people affected by HIV and AIDS.  

In June 2021, Grande, along with a dozen other celebrities signed an open letter to Congress to pass the Equality Act highlighting the Act would protect "marginalized communities".  
In the same month, Grande partnered with the online portal BetterHelp, and gave away $2 million worth of therapy to fans.

A regular fixture in the most liked Instagram posts list, is musician and actor Selena Gomez.  
Her account is the usual pop star fare of selfies, Selena at events, pictures of her friends, but it also includes a few political posts around subjects like women’s rights.  

On top of an extremely successful acting and singing career, Selena is also known to be UNICEF's youngest-ever Goodwill Ambassador, after she was made a spokesperson for the Trick or Treat campaign which worked to raise awareness of the plight of children in Ghana and has done a huge number of other activities for the charity.  

Selena has traveled to the Congo with the ENOUGH Project to witness firsthand the difficulties that Congolese citizens are struggling with due to war, poverty, and conflict minerals. 

Selena recently joined other celebrities in strutting her stuff down the runway in Beverly Hills in aid of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, where over $1 million dollars was raised for the cause.

The second-to-last Kardashian or Jenner on the list and, arguably, the most famous.  Her account is, pretty similar to those of her family members. 

Lots of photos from her modeling and the events she attends, along with insights into her personal life, including old family photos.  

Between filming 'Keeping Up with the Kardashians' and taking care of her four kids, Kim Kardashian West still manages to find time to advocate for the causes near and dear to her heart. 

Her burgeoning law career and prison reform activism has sparked real change in the lives of incarcerated individuals, while her call of attention to the homelessness epidemic in LA. resulted in an anonymous million-dollar donation. Both on- and off-screen, the KKW Beauty entrepreneur continues to fight for others.

Kardashian West has worked with the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles since the early 2000s, donating money and visiting patients. The celebrity has been known to bring husband Kanye West on some of these visits, too. She expressed that the cause is dear to her after a friend’s child fell ill, and also after losing her father, Robert Kardashian, to cancer in 2003.
