Indian wrestler Nisha Dahiya was forced to take to Twitter to announce that she is alive after a case of mistaken identity led to reports of her being shot dead.
Calling it 'fake news', the Under-23 World Champion in a video said that she is fine and is in Gonda to play senior nationals.
Wrestler Sakshi Malik also posted a photograph with Dahiya on social media to confirm that she was alive.
Reports of Nisha Dahiya having been killed along with her brother emerged on Wednesday afternoon, the police later clarified that the another wrestler with the same name had been shot dead leading to confusion.
Earlier this week, Dahiya won bronze medal at the World Championship in the 72 kg weight class at the World Wrestling Chamionship in Belgrade.
