To aid the fight against Covid-19, a team of researchers at the Indian Institute of Technology in Guwahati has designed a range of hospital furniture made with bamboo. Their aim is to enhance low-cost and quick production in case there is a surge in hospitalisation cases in rural areas. The furniture will be easy to dispose off once the burden of the virus eases. According to a professor at the design department, 200 such beds can be manufactured per day. In addition to that, the sustainable furniture will provide a boost to job opportunities in the region, the team shared.
