IMDb rates 'The White Tiger' actor Adarsh Gourav as the top breakout star of 2021

Adarsh Gourav who was seen in Netflix film 'The White Tiger' has earned the top spot on IMDb's  list of stars who had breakout career moments in 2021. 

Adarsh played the role of Balram Halvai aka Ashok Sharma in 'The White Tiger', who is a driver at a rich household of the couple, played by Rajkummar Rao and Priyanka Chopra. He fights oppression and defies social norms to succeed.

The role of Balram earned Adarsh a BAFTA nomination for Best Leading Actor and an Independent Spirit Award nomination for Best Male Lead.

Elated after his win, Adarsh took to Instagram to share the news with fans. While holding his award, Gourav said, “Thank you so much IMDb, this really means the world to me. And to the [fans] who have taken the precious time to review my films and write testimonials about my performances."

Thanking Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Gourav added, “It’s also very special to me because Priyanka Chopra, who is my co-actor in The White Tiger, was also given a STARmeter Award a few years ago, and now I can share the stage with her when it comes to receiving this award.”

Critically acclaimed star Manoj Bajpayee who is also on IMDb's list, had multiple breakthrough performances this year including fan-favourite 'The Family Man' Season 2, and continues to experiment with his roles, even after a more than two-decade career in Indian films and television.
