When India took the field on Day 3 of the 1st Test in Kanpur vs New Zealand, there was no sign of Wriddhiman Saha. BCCI later announced that Saha was out due to a stiff neck and the medical team was treating him and monitoring his progress.
In his absence, KS Bharat was handed the wicket-keeping gloves. Saha had become India's second choice keeper ever since Rishabh Pant made a mark in the Test arena. The Bengal lad returned to the playing XI for the Kanpur Test but had a miserable outing with the bat and was out for just 1.
