It was there for the taking but Shubman Gill blew yet another opportunity of scoring his 1st Test hundred. Despite looking on course for a big score, the Indian opening batter was out for 52 vs New Zealand in the 1st Test in Kanpur.
Gill now has a conversion rate that no batter will be proud of. In 16 innings so far in Test cricket, he has scored 4 half-centuries but has failed to convert even a single one into a ton. That makes it a conversion rate of 0.
Gill was making a comeback to Test cricket after missing the Test series vs England. Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul emerged as India's go-to pair then and with both set to return soon, Gill needs a few big scores under his belt to keep himself in the frame.
