Cheteshwar Pujara's string of poor performances continued to haunt India in Test cricket. Pujara registered an unwanted record after being dismissed for a duck in the first innings of the Mumbai Test against New Zealand. He equalled the record of most number of ducks at number 3 position for India when he was cleaned up by Ajaz Patel after facing five deliveries.
Pujara is tied at eight ducks at number 3 position with batting legend Dilip Vengsarkar followed by the India current head coach Rahul Dravid, who has 7 ducks by his name at the same batting position.
Pujara's poor form has put a lot of pressure on India's middle order as he failed to play the anchor role lately. The 33-year old batter failed to reach the three-figure mark in his last 41 innings, including 20 innings at home.
His last century came in 2019 during Sydney Test against Australia while Pujara score a ton at home soil in 2017 against Sri Lanka at Nagpur.
