The debate over who should be India's first-choice spinner in the Test series in South Africa won't bother the management now as Ravichandran Ashwin is likely to play all the 3 Tests in the absence of an injured Ravindra Jadeja.
While the off-spinner would take the field to help his side try and register its first-ever Test series win in the Rainbow Nation, Ashwin is also nearing a personal but huge milestone.
Ashwin took his wickets tally in Tests to 427 during the home Test series against New Zealand and is now the 3rd-highest wicket-taker for India in whites. Interestingly, the off-spinner has played 3 Tests in South Africa so far and has picked 7 scalps. The same number of wickets that the 35-year-old needs to equal the great Kapil Dev and become India's joint 2nd-most successful bowler in Test cricket.
