At the end of Day 4 a loss for England didn't look likely but that's exactly what happened. Team India conquered the Lord's as they beat the 3 Lions by 151 runs to take a 1-0 lead in the 5-match Test series, with 3 games left.
India looked for quick runs but with Rishabh Pant's early departure, that hope was fading away, but Mohmmed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah had other plans. The pair put together an unbeaten 89 run stand, helping India declare at 298/8. Chasing 272 runs for victory, England lost both openers for a duck. Haseeb Hameed and Jhonny Bairstow also got out cheaply, but the big scalp was of an in-form Joe Root who fell for 33 straight after tea. The hosts were taken to the mat and were eventually bowled out for just 120. Virat Kohli is now just the 2nd Indian skipper after Kapil Dev to lead India to victory in 2 Tests in England.
