2 gangsters involved in Sidhu Moose Wala's murder were killed in an encounter with police, Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav said on Wednesday.

The gangsters have been indentified as Jagroop Singh Roopa and Manpreet Singh alias Mannu Kusa

The police recovered an AK47, a pistol and large number of bullets from the house where the suspects were lodged. Yadav added that three police officials have also suffered minor injuries. Visuals from the encounter site showed an injured cameraperson who was shot in the leg amid the cross-fire. His colleague said that while covering the encounter a bullet hit his co-worker's leg. The cameraperson's leg was bandaged and police officials later helped him to safety.

The encounter began around noon at Bhakna village, 20 kms from Amritsar after the shooters were tailed by Punjab Police's Anti-Gangster Task Force. These two shooters were among the three gunmen who were still on the run. The third, Deepak Mundi, has not been traced yet. Rest of the shooters reportedly involved in Moose Wala's killing have been arrested.

Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu aka Sidhu Moose Wala, who was a singer as well as a Congress leader, was shot dead near his village in Punjab's Mansa district on May 29.  According to the reports, Mannu Kussa had fired the first shots at Moose Wala using an AK-47 rifle.

A Canadian-based gangster known as Goldy Brar in co-ordination with gangster Lawrence Bishnoi who was lodged in Delhi's Tihar Jail reportedly orchestrated Moose Wala's murder.

AAP-led Punjab government has been facing questions too, as the murder occured just a day after Moose Wala's security cover was reduced as part of a larger drive to cut down on 'VIP Culture'.
