50% job quota in central govt, ₹1 lakh cash: Cong reaches out to women voters

Reaching out to women voters, the Congress party in its manifesto promised to reserve 50% of central government jobs for women starting from 2025. The party also has committed to elevating more women to prominent positions such as judges, government secretaries, senior police officers, legal officers, and directors on the boards of listed companies. It has also proposed to implement Mahalakshmi scheme, under which ₹1 lakh cash per year would be transferred to every impoverished Indian family. It will be directly deposited into the bank account of the eldest woman in the household.
