India's Omicron case tally jumped to 781 on Wednesday. The cases of the new and more infectious Covid-19 variant have been detected in 21 states and UTs so far.
Of 781 Omicron infected people, 241 have recovered or migrated so far, according to the Union Health Ministry data.
The national capital Delhi is at the top of the Omicron chart with 238 cases, including 57 recoveries. Maharashtra is second with 167 Omicron cases, including 72 recoveries. Gujarat, Kerala, Telangana, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Haryana, West Bengal have all Omicron cases in double digits.

Meanwhile, India's Covid-19 tally also saw a big jump on Wednesday with 9,195 people testing positive for coronavirus infection in a day. This is a sharp 44 per cent jump from Tuesday's 6,358 cases.
The number of fresh cases reported in the last 24 hours surpassed the number of people recovered, which stood at 7,347.
Astronomical rise in Covid cases in Delhi and Mumbai has been the main reason behind the spike in India's daily tally.
Covid raced through Mumbai and Delhi on Wednesday, registering a 70 per cent and 50 per cent jump over a 24-hour period. While Mumbai reported 1,377 cases, the national capital logged 496.
