In what has become an annual custom, the tallest building in the world - the Burj Khalifa - lit up in colours of the Indian national flag on the occasion of Independence Day.

The Dubai skyscraper displayed messages like "Happy Independence Day to Mother India" and "Long Live India-UAE friendship". Along with MK Gandhi's portrait, the Burj Khalifa displayed messages of "Har Ghar Tiranga" and "Jai Hind".

This comes after many Pakistanis expressed outrage on August 14 that the Burj Khalifa did not light up in Pakistani flag colours on their Independence Day.
