Five days after 4 soldiers were murdered at the Bathinda Military Station, Punjab Police on 17 April 2023 revealed that an Army jawan has been arrested in the case.

A soldier named Desai Mohan has been detained for allegedly murdering the 4 soldiers over "personal enmity".

Earlier, Desai Mohan had acted as a witness, claiming that he saw two men running out of the barracks after the shooting, news agency PTI said.

The jawan had said that the men he saw were wearing kurta-pyjama and carrying an INSAS rifle and an axe.
