Heavy rains have been wreaking havoc in the state of Assam. Startling visuals shared widely on social media show a bridge being swept away by the rapid flow of the river.

The bridge was reportedly located in Assam's Dima Hasao district, which has been heavily affected due to rains and flooding.

Editorji could not independently verify the authenticity of the visuals.

Photos tell the story of grave damage to people and services as train lines and roads too were eroded in the deluge the state has witnessed in recent days.

Dima Hasao has been cut off from the rest of the state as rain continues to pour, causing further damage.
