A SpiceJet passenger has been in the news lately after he got stuck inside the plane's toilet for nearly an hour mid-flight. The video of the same is now doing rounds on the internet.
In the viral video, the passenger is seen sitting on the commode lid in the cramped toilet. The man then gets up and tries to push the door open, but fails. He also recorded the door knob turning as crew members attempted a rescue from outside.
SpiceJet said, "On January 16, a passenger unfortunately got stuck inside the lavatory for about an hour on SpiceJet flight operating from Mumbai to Bengaluru, while the aircraft was airborne due to a malfunction in the door lock. Throughout the journey, our crew provided assistance and guidance to the passenger."
Earlier, a note that crew members passed under the toilet door to calm the stuck passenger went viral.
"Sir, we tried our best to open the door. However, we could not open. Do not panic, we are landing in a few minutes. So please close the commode lid and sit on it and secure yourself. As soon as the main door is open, engineer will come. Do not panic," read the note.
The passenger was eventually rescued after landing at the Bengaluru airport, when an engineer opened the lavatory door.
The airline apologised for the inconvenience caused and said the passenger is being provided a full refund.
