A 45-year-old woman suffered burns when a low intensity blast rocked Bengaluru's Rameshwaram Cafe.
According to he Indian Express, the victim, identified as Swarnamba Narayanappa who is an accountant at a multinational firm, underwent plastic surgery to treat the burn injuries she suffered on the right side of her upper body.
A doctor said that she was the worst injured of all the blast victims. CCTV footage of the incident showed the woman struggling to get up after the blast.
Meanwhile, a team of forensic experts, bomb disposal squad and dog squad reached the site to conduct an investigation.
Officials from the local unit of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) also arrived at the spot and conducted inquiry.
The Bengaluru police registered a case under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and Explosive Substances Act. Police suspect that an improvised explosive device (IED) fitted with a timer inside a bag could have exploded.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said the incident should not be politicised and everyone should cooperate, he said, adding strict action would be taken against those involved.
