Bengaluru: Lokayukta raids 8 officials over disproportionate assets

On Wednesday, Lokayukta officials conducted raids at several locations tied to eight government officers, including a Joint Commissioner from the Transport Department, accused of amassing assets beyond their known income sources.

The officers under investigation include Shobha, the Joint Commissioner of Transport in Bengaluru; Dr. S. N. Umesh, the Kadur Health and Family Welfare Officer; and Ravindra, an Inspector in the Minor Irrigation Department based in Basavakalyan.

Other officials facing scrutiny are Prakash Sridhar Gaekwad, Tehsildar of Khanapur; S. Raju, a retired Road Transport Officer from Tumakuru; Huchesh alias Huchappa, Assistant Executive Engineer in Gadag Municipality; R.H. Lokesh, Welfare Officer in the Backward Class Department in Ballari; and Huliraja, Junior Engineer at the BESCOM office in Raichur.

Raids were carried out at the homes and offices of these officers in Bengaluru and other locations. The Lokayukta is expected to provide further details by the end of the day.
