Bharat Bandh: trains blocked, traffic snarls amid heavy security arrangements

Amid a call for Bharat Bandh opposing the Narendra Modi government's 'Agnipath' scheme; several cities across the country are witnessing agitations.

Several trains were cancelled on Monday keeping in view the damage and arson caused to trains by protestors last week.

About 181 Mail Express and 348 passenger trains were cancelled as per Railways Ministry.

Heavy security has been deployed in Punjab's Jalandhar and Amritsar railway stations while police could also be seen in Delhi's Nizamuddin railway station.

Meanwhile, trains were blocked in Delhi's Shivaji Bridge railway station by Indian Youth Congress who are protesting Rahul's ED questioning and 'Agnipath' scheme.

Heavy security was deployed at Howrah Station, Howrah Bridge, Santragachi Junction, Shalimar railway station and other locations.

CM Mamata Banerjee said that BJP is trying to fool people with schemes like ‘Agnipath’ ahead of 2024 Lok Sabha polls.

In Tamil Nadu, the issue of Platform tickets was restricted at all railway stations over Chennai division of Southern Railway.

Earlier, huge traffic snarls were seen in and around Delhi along the borders of Noida and Gurugram.
