The Bihar government revealed a new set of data on the caste survey it conducted across the state.
The latest data showed that about 34% of all families in the state earn up to ₹ 6,000 per month, while 29.6% survive on ₹10,000 or less.
According to the report, more than 42% of families from Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes are poor. Over 33% of those from Backward and Extremely Backward Classes and 25% of general category families are poor.
The results revealed that people belonging to extremely backward classes or EBCs and other backward classes or OBCs constitute a whopping 63% of the state’s total population.
