The Bihar government has suspended 16 engineers after 10 bridges collapsed in the state over a fortnight.

The Bihar government suspended the concerned engineers on the 4th of July a day after a bridge in Saran collapsed.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar ordered an inspection report of all the bridges that are under construction and the old bridges in the state within two weeks, The Indian Express reported.

Since June June 18, 10 bridges have collapsed in Kishanganj, Araria, East Champaran, Madhubani, Siwan and Saran.

The bridge collapse incident caused a political storm in the state, with the ruling Nitish Kumar government blaming the then deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav for not framing good bridge maintenance policy when he was the state's road and construction and building minister.
