A dead snake was allegedly found in the mess food of a government engineering college in Bihar's Banka district. Several students were hospitalised after consuming the contaminated food.

Students said that they developed symptoms like nausea and vomiting after consuming food from the canteen on June 13. A private contractor runs the college mess.

The district administration began an investigation into the incident. Sub Divisional Officer (SDO) Avinash Kumar and Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Vinod Kumar visited the college on June 14. They appealed to the students to maintain peace.
