A Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) team was attacked by villagers in Nawada in Bihar, while investigating the UGC NET paper leak. The locals mistook the officials for impostors, leading to the assault.
The incident happened in Kasiyadih village, where the CBI team was searching for a person whose phone they were tracking.
The video of the attack is going viral on the internet. Police is allso identifying people involved in the attack from the viral videos. So far, four people have been arrested.
A case has been lodged against around 200 people. Only eight of them have been named. Four people have been arrested. The local police, led by senior officer Ambrish Rahul, rescued the CBI team, which included four officials and a woman constable.
The villagers vandalized the team's vehicles, accusing them of being fake. The CBI called in the local police, who managed to calm the situation. The investigation continued with police presence, and two cellphones were seized.
The CBI stated that once they analyze the information on these phones, more arrests related to the paper leak will follow. The UGC-NET exam, crucial for students aiming to pursue teaching in higher education, was canceled due to suspicions of the paper being leaked.
