Two people were killed and one sustained serious injuries after they were run over by a car that was reportedly part of the convoy of BJP candidate Karan Bhushan Singh, who is the son of Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh.
The accident took place on Thursday morning near Baikunth Degree College on Colonelganj-Huzoorpur road in Uttar Pradesh's Gonda district. The police have seized the car and filed an FIR against the driver of the car whose identity has not been revealed..
However, it is not confirmed whether Karan Bhushan Singh was present in the car at the time of the accident.
Kernalganj SHO Nirbhay Narayan Singh told PTI news agency that Rehan Khan (17) and Shehzad Khan (20) who were riding on a motorcycle were hit by the vehicle near a school. Both died on the spot.
The injured, who is said to be a woman, has been admitted to hospital and police personnel have been deployed in the area to ensure law and order.
The SUV that hit the duo lost control and also hit Sita Devi (60) who was walking on the road side, the SHO said.
