After the viral video of a man claiming that Chinese butter is being sold in Indian markets, Amul has issued a clarification saying that the video is fake and misleading.

Amul said both packets of butter shown in the video are genuine and manufactured in India by Amul, adding that all new dairy products must show the vegetarian logo on the front of the pack in line in line with the advisory of the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India.

It has also sent a legal notice to the concerned individual saying the video has been made to create misinformation and spread fear and concern among consumers.

The video clip shows a man comparing two packets of Amul butter calling the one already available at home original butter and the new packet as Chinese butter. He pointed to the placements of the green logo on the butter packs to support his duplicate butter claim.
