Tamil Nadu Police have booked Kalashetra assistant professor Hari Padman, days after students of the Rukmini Devi College of Fine Arts accused him of sexual harassment, India Today reported.
This comes after protests by students on the campus demanding action against the professor.
Meanwhile, state women’s commission chairperson AS Kumari who visited the campus on 31 March said that she has received nearly 100 written complaints of sexual abuse and harassment from students.
The Kalakshetra students, who have been protesting against Hari Padman and three other faculty members, have temporarily suspended their protest.
Hari Padman, who was accused of sexual harassment, was booked under Sections 354A (sexual harassment), 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC. He was also booked under relevant Sections of the Women Harassment Act.
