The Tamil Nadu government found itself in an awkward position after an advertisement taken out by one of its ministers to highlight a new ISRO space station in the state showed the Chinese flag on a rocket.

BJP's state chief K Annamalai said that the ad showed the ruling DMK's committment to China.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi too trained his guns on the DMK while addressing a public event in Tirunelveli.

'DMK does not do any work, but takes false credit. They put their sticker on our schemes. To take credit for a new ISRO launchpad, they have pasted a Chinese flag symbol. They are not ready to see the development of India. They are not ready to see the development of India's space sector,' he said.

The ad was reportedly issued by State Fisheries Minister Anita Radhakrishnan in her personal capacity. The poster was aimed at highlighting the efforts of former Tamil Nadu chief minister M Karunanidhi and current chief minister MK Stalin to make the new ISRO launchpad at Kulasekarapattinam a reality.
