A local Congress leader, Baljinder Singh Balli, was shot dead by an unidentified man who barged into the house in Punjab's Moga on September 18.

A CCTV footage, purported to be of the incident, shows the assailant firing at the 45-year-old leader before fleeing. Balli was taken to a hospital where he succumbed to injuries, said police.

Hours later, Canada-based Khalistani terrorist Arsh Dalla, who is wanted by the NIA, claimed responsibility for the murder in a Facebook post. Dalla alleged that Balli had ruined his future and forced him into the gangster culture.
