Cow vigilante Mohit Yadav alias Monu Manesar, who was linked to the recent violence in Haryana's Nuh, has been taken into custody by police, Vishva Hindu Parishad said on Tuesday.

He was picked up in Gurugram’s Manesar, said a VHP official. A CCTV footage purportedly showed policemen in plain clothes taking him into custody.

The Bajrang Dal activist is among the 21 persons booked in the abduction and killing of two Muslim men - Junaid and Nasir - whose charred bodies were found in a burnt car in Rajasthan’s Bhiwani on February 16.

Manesar's name came up in connection with the Nuh violence after his social media posts, in which he vowed to join VHP's religious yatra, surfaced.
