Customs summons to Telangana minister’s son over purchase of watches worth Rs 1.7 crore

Customs officials have summoned Ponguleti Harsha Reddy, son of Telangana minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy, over the purchase of watches worth Rs 1.7 crore.

According to the Indian Express, officials suspect the two luxury watches were allegedly smuggled from Hong Kong via Singapore.

Chennai Customs officials acted on a tip-off and seized the watches from Mohammed Mubeen, a dealer of luxury watches, who returned from Singapore on February 5, The Indian Express reported quoting officials.

Harsha Reddy allegedly placed the purchase order with Mubeen through an intermediary. According to the report, hawala transactions and cryptocurrency were also involved in the purchase. The intermediary is said to have identified the watches as those purchased by Harsha Reddy.
