A Delhi police officer was seen kicking and slapping the people who were offering namaz on the road. A video of the incident that is going viral on social media shows the unnamed officer purportedly assaulting a few people who were praying at a busy intersection.

The incident took place at Inderlok. Following a massive uproar, the Delhi police suspended the errant sub-inspector. Later, scores of people staged a protest against the cop's misbehaviour.

Meanwhile, the Congress took potshots at Union Home Minister Amit Shah, under whose jurisdiction the Delhi Police comes.

"The motto of Amit Shah's Delhi Police is peace, service, justice, working diligently," Congress leader Supriya Shrinate said on X.

Congress Rajya Sabha MP Imran Pratapgarhi said, "This Delhi Police soldier kicking a person while offering namaz probably does not understand the basic principles of humanity. What is this hatred that is filled in the heart of this soldier? Delhi Police is requested to file a case against this official under appropriate sections and terminate his service."
