Delhi recorded a temperature of 52.3 degree Celsius on Wednesday, the highest the country has ever experienced.

The weather station in Mungeshpur recorded 52.3 degree Celsius at 2.30 pm, according to a report by NDTV.

Amidst the intense heatwave, the national capital has imposed curbs on water usage.

The Delhi Jal Board announced a fine of Rs 2,000 for water wastage and banned the use of hoses to wash cars, overflowing water tanks and use of domestic water for construction and commercial purposes.

The move comes amid an "acute shortage" with Water Minister Atishi accusing Haryana of not releasing Delhi's share of water from the Yamuna River.
