Remembering Iranian president Ebrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister Amir Abdollahian who died in a helicopter crash, India's foreign affairs minister S Jaishankar recalled the two leader's contribution to securing the Chabahar port deal.
While speaking at a gathering in Delhi on Monday, the BJP minister said that India getting to manage the port for 10 years wouldn't have been possible without the "interest" and "initiative" of Raisi and Abdollahian.
"We have been trying for almost 20 years now, to have a short agreement with Iran, because there were a lot of problems on their side. Thanks to the two people who unfortunately died yesterday in the helicopter crash—the president and foreign minister of Iran. Because of their interest" and "initiative, we were actually able to finalise a long-term agreement.
