'NDA govt will struggle to survive': Rahul Gandhi makes daring prediction

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has claimed that Narendra Modi-led NDA coalition government will struggle to survive in its third term.

Speaking to the Financial Times newspaper, the Congress MP further claimed that some of the NDA allies are in touch with the INDIA bloc, adding that there is great discontent within the Modi camp.

He said, "The numbers are such that they are very fragile, and the smallest disturbance can drop the government,” Gandhi said, adding, “Basically one ally has to turn the other way.”

He asserted that the Indian political landscape has undergone a "tectonic shift" post the June 4 results, which saw the BJP winning just 234 Lok Sabha seats, falling short of the majority 272-mark. 

“The idea that you can spread hatred, you can spread anger and you can reap benefits of that — the Indian people have rejected it in this election,” Gandhi told FT.

“That’s also why the coalition will struggle...because what worked for Narendra Modi in 2014 and 2019 is not working.”
