Despite court order, BJP's Suvendu Adhikari stopped from entering Sandeshkhali

West Bengal police on Tuesday stopped BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari and other party MLAs from visiting Sandeshkhali in North 24 Parganas. Calcutta High Court on Monday granted him permission to visit the tense district.

Police have stopped opposition leaders from entering the locality where a large number of women have been staging protests against Trinamool strongman Shajahan Sheikh and his supporters for alleged land-grabbing and sexual violence. 

Senior CPI(M) leader Brinda Karat was also stopped earlier from entering Sandeshkhali.

The party has accused Mamata Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress of shielding
