editorji Exclusive | 'Street fights; many Russian troops; no evacuation plan': Indian student in Sumy | Ukraine war

Savitri Sahi, an Indian student stranded in Ukraine, spoke to editorji about the problems she's facing with no information from the Indian embassy about evacuation plans.

Savitri is a fourth-year medical student at the Sumy State University. She said that there is large presence of Russian troops in the area, and street battles are common. She said that she is running out of food, and it is not possible for her to venture out and collect essentials. She said that she flees to bomb shelters when air raid sirens sound.

In this desperate situation, Savitri said that she's unable to connect with the Indian embassy, and there is no information regarding evacuation of Indians, who number around 600, from Sumy.

Due to the dangerous situation, Savitri said that she and other students are suffering from health issues including anxiety attacks and high blood pressure. She appealed to the government to focus on students stuck in east Ukraine. She claimed that most of the evacuations have happened from the western border, which are already safer.
