Crossing a major milestone regarding its deal signed with India, Airbus on May 8, 2023, announced that the first C295 aircraft meant for India had completed its maiden flight.

The plane successfully conducted a 3-hour flight on May 5 in Seville, Spain.

Airbus said that this was a major step towards delivery of the plane before the end of 2023.

The Indian government approved the C295 deal with Airbus and Space SA in 2021. India will get 16 aircraft in "fly-away" condition, while 40 will be made domestically.
