Amid speculations over his participation in the G20 Summit set to be held in New Delhi, Russian President Vladimir Putin on August 28 confirmed that he is skipping the summit.
According to the PMO, Putin dialled PM Modi and conveyed his inability to attend the event. He further informed that Russia will be represented by its Foreign minister Sergey Lavrov.
Additionally, both leaders discussed bilateral, regional and global issues on their call.
Notably, amid the arrest warrant issued by the ICC for Putin, the Russian President risks arrest if he travels to a different country.
The Russian leader did not attend the recently concluded BRICS summit held in South Africa.
