Ghulam Nabi Azad unlikely to contest Lok Sabha polls? Here's what he said

Ghulam Nabi Azad kept the poll observers guessing as he is yet to decide whether he will contest the Lok Sabha polls from Anantnag- Rajouri constituency.

Even though his Democratic Progressive Azad Party announced Azad's candidature, the veteran Kashmir leader told NDTV that he has not taken the final call.

"I'm yet to decide if I will contest or not.  My party has announced it but I have not taken a final call," Azad was quoted as saying.

Anantnag is being watched keenly as two former chief ministers National Conference's Farooq Abdullah and People's Democratic Party's Mehbooba Mufti had announced their candidature from the seat.

If Azad decides to take the plunge, then decks would be cleared for the most high-profile showdowns in Jammu and Kashmir, where the first phase of polling will begin on April 19.
